As part of an ongoing expansion of the Clinical Psychology Graduate Program, the Department of Psychology at the University of Regina is seeking applications for a tenure-track position in Clinical Psychology at the rank of Associate/Assistant Professor. Area of clinical research specialization is open. Anticipated date of commencement is Jan 1, 2024 or July 1, 2024, depending on the availability of the successful candidate.
Duties of the successful candidate will include teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level, honours and graduate thesis supervision, supervision of clinical practicums, and participation in departmental activities. About the Organization Dr. Sherry Stewart’s lab is looking for a Postdoctoral fellow to collaborate with partner researchers and organizations in the conduct of the UniVenture project. The UniVenture project is a targeted wellness program to address heavy drinking, other substance misuse, and student mental health on 5 Canadian campuses. The multi-site UniVenture research project is being led by Dr. Sherry Stewart (Project Director [PD]) out of the MAAC Lab at Dalhousie University in Halifax. http://maaclab.psychology.dal.ca/. Job Summary Reporting directly to the PD, the Postdoctoral Fellow will work with UniVenture Project university partners and students to ensure standardized organization and delivery of the Univenture project across all 5 Canadian sites. The postdoctoral fellow will also have the opportunity to work closely with one of the partners, Injury Free Nova Scotia [IFNS], to advance a UniVenture sub-project focused on whether and how the targeted wellness program reduces risk taking and injury among undergraduates. Mental health disorders are a leading cause of disability worldwide. Access to mental health services is limited, particularly in remote areas and among marginalized populations. Digital health, broadly defined as the use of digital technologies (e.g., smartphone apps, Internet-based interventions, Telehealth, wearable devices) to improve health and mental well-being, are innovative and effective at promoting health equity and improving quality of life for persons with mental health concerns. Digital health is an emerging area of expertise at the U of S and we are seeking a rising research star to develop a world-class research and training program within our department. The CRC will join, support, and champion the mission of the department’s Clinical Psychology Program. The Clinical Psychology Program, which provides generalist clinical training, was established in 1971 and has been continuously accredited by the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) since 1990. The Graduate Program in Clinical Psychology at U of S is undergoing an exciting multi-year, multi-million-dollar expansion. The standard salary bands for this position for the 2022-2023 academic year are as follows: Assistant Professor – $99,945 - $120,099; Associate Professor – $120,099 – $140,253, with the possibility of merit-based additions. A chair stipend is also provided to those who hold a Canada Research Chair. The Department of Psychosocial Oncology and Rehabilitation (Tom Baker Cancer Centre, Calgary Alberta) and the Division of Psychosocial Oncology (Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary) are recruiting a Clinical Academic Fellow for the 2023-24 academic year. This opportunity is for interdisciplinary psychosocial professionals (i.e. completing doctoral training, residency training, or are fully licensed) seeking one year of specialized experience in Psychosocial Oncology and Psychological Trauma. Knowledge of cultural aspects of care and experience working with minoritized populations are preferred.
Within Cancer Care Alberta (CCA), Psychosocial Oncology services are provided by a team of interdisciplinary professionals dedicated to enhancing the quality of life and addressing psychiatric illnesses of those affected by cancer. This team provides expert care at any stage of the cancer experience, including at diagnosis, during oncologic treatment, throughout survivorship, and towards end-of-life. The Department of Psychosocial Oncology provides clinical assessment and intervention in individual, couples, family, and group modalities in a rich team environment and is a leader in world-class research. This one-year Fellowship will focus on Psychosocial Oncology and psychological trauma, including clinical, research, program evaluation/development, and education opportunities. Training in evidence-based therapy orientations will include Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Coping with Cancer and Living Meaningfully (CALM), and Supportive Expressive Group Therapy. The Fellow will gain experience across tumour groups and will work in a hybrid setting, 3 days on-site and 2 days remotely. They will work closely with interdisciplinary teams, providing consultation, building professional networks in oncology, and potentially providing supervision. Primary supervisors will be Dr. Andrea Feldstain, Ph.D., R.Psych and Dr. Janet de Groot, MD, FRCPC, MSc. Research mentorship and guidance is provided within the research-intensive Division of Psychosocial Oncology, Department of Oncology, University of Calgary.
